The best four days of gaming came and went in a flash! We have so many memories, met so many awesome people, made so many friends, and just had an overall great time in Indy. Here’s our top ten moments!
1. “Cast On” for ArchRavels
We had so many people Cast On our newest needle-crafting project, ArchRavels. The advanced backer campaign definitely gave us a leg up on our Kickstarter that will be happening next month. In return, advanced backers received either a patch or pin and $5 to put towards add-ons in BackerKit post-campaign.
2. Knitters, Crocheters, Crafters, Meeples UNITE!
Our hearts are so full by the amount of knitters, crocheters, and crafters who were at our booth checking out the demo, adding to our collective scarf, showing us you WIPs, hand-dyed skeins, starting a knitting circle, and even crocheting us hats and octopus plushies. You guys simply rock and your words of encouragement were as cozy as your crafted items.
3. Networking
We bumped into a few of our favorite industry people at the exhibitor hall hearing pitches, doing interviews , and of course playing games at all of the Meetups. Reconnecting with the people we love in this industry is ALWAYS great!
4. Reconnecting with Backers!
Without our backers we wouldn’t exist. Seriously. These are the people who really gave us the opportunity to make games. We absolutely loved when people stopped by to see what we’ve been up to. One couple came back to say, “We backed RobotLab and Inoka. We just received a demo of ArchRavels and we’re casting on!” This kind of encouragement and following is exactly the fuel we need before the big Kickstarter next month. WE LOVE YOU GUYS.
5. Games Nights with our Con Friends
We played Drinks with Frenemies at the Meeple Gamers Media Meetup. We played Letter Game, Trapwords, Kabuto Sumo and Moonraker at the Board Game Spotlight & Tantrum House Meetup. Then back at the hotel, we played a ton of games with people in the wee hours of the day. One of our favorite game plays which is also why we ended up purchasing the game immediately was a demo of Jaws. As the Shark, we ate people up, we hid from the other players, we knocked other players off of Orca and it was a great time!
6. Super Secret Playtest with our friends at Rattlebox Games
We once again ran one of our favorite events; XYZ Game Labs Super Secret Playtest! Where attendees can get a sneak peek at our newest, unpublished games. We also had our friends from Rattlebox Games over to playtest as well. Let’s just say in HINDSIGHT, it was a blast, no one cracked under the PRESSURE and it didn’t end in UDDER CHAOS.
7. 2nd Annual Inoka World Championship
This is one of our favorite events at Gen Con. This year marked the 2nd Annual Inoka World Championship! The tournament starts with a quick learn how to play round, brackets are made, seating assignments are made and then the single elimination events begins to determine this year’s Inoka World Champion. Last year’s 2018 World Champion, Keith AKA “Papa Spicey”, came back from Canada to defend his title. He was eliminated in the first round by Andy who rightfully ended up winning the entire tournament! Congratulations to all of the participants and to Andy Dlugosielski for becoming our new champion! Check out the photos and of course the video of Andy relishing in his new Inoka glory.
8. Amazing Booths
We saw so many great booths this weekend that are just worth sharing. In no particular, here are a few of our #BoothGoals.
9. Vault Hunters looting our box
Victory favors the bold and this weekend we had 3 bold, vault hunters! Congrats on looting our booth. That just goes to show, if you see an lit, unopened lootbox, you should probably open it. 😉
10. Booth Staff
Lastly, we couldn’t have had a successful con without our fantastic booth staff! We cannot stress this enough, everyone who worked the booth were amazing. Be on the lookout for these staff at our future cons. We are so lucky to be working with them!
